With “Running Home,” Jade LeMac Solidifies Her Place in Pop’s Next Wave

Since first breaking through in 2021 with her viral debut single “Constellations,” Jade LeMac has steadily built a reputation as one of the most authentic new voices in pop and alt-pop. What began as bedroom songwriting has quickly evolved into a career that now includes headline shows across North America, a Lollapalooza debut, and an upcoming run supporting Maren Morris. For an artist still so early in her journey, Jade has already proven she can connect deeply with fans while continuing to evolve her sound.

Part of Jade’s impact comes from the honesty she brings to her music, her songs carry the weight of lived experience while remaining relatable and universal. Now, as she gears up for tour and a new EP, Jade is focused on growth—creatively, professionally, and personally. With a clear vision for her artistry and an eagerness to explore new genres and opportunities, she’s laying the foundation not just for the next big release, but for a sustainable, long-term career in music.

How did your upbringing—musically, culturally, or otherwise—shape the perspective you bring to the music industry today?

I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Everything I’ve been through and been taught has shaped the person I am today, and that shapes how I write. My upbringing is a huge part of my perspective which affects the way I show up in the music industry.

Your 2021 debut single “Constellations” took off in a big way. How did that song come together, and did you expect it to resonate the way it did?

“Constellations” was one of those songs I started, forgot about for a while, and then came back to a couple of years later to finish. I never expected it to become what it did or to reach as many people as it has.

You’re known for writing deeply personal lyrics. Do you find that cathartic, or is it ever difficult to share those parts of yourself publicly?

It’s easy for me to write about my feelings and it’s definitely cathartic. But when it comes to talking about those feelings, or especially showing the song to the person I wrote it about, that can be a lot harder.

Was there a particular song that felt especially healing to write or record?

“Sleeping With The Lights On” is a really important one for me. It’s a very personal song, and recording it felt like a weight lifted off my shoulders.

You’ve been open about your journey with your identity. How does that show up in your music, and what do you hope your visibility means to younger fans?

It’s not something I’m super direct about in my music, but it’s definitely intertwined in the lyrics and shaped by my personal experiences. I hope that by being proud of who I am and showing that openly, I can be the person I needed when I was younger.

You’ve mostly written songs for yourself so far. Have you thought about writing for other artists or experimenting with genres beyond pop and alt-pop?

Yeah, I’d like to do both. Right now I’m focused on my own music, but writing for other people is definitely something I want to try. And I’m 100% open to exploring different genres and sounds. I’m still young and figuring out exactly what my sound is.

On platforms like TikTok, fans get to see a playful, candid side of you. How do you balance the roles of introspective artist and casual content creator?

I don’t know if I “balance” it - I just kind of post whatever I feel like posting and have fun with it. I go with the flow.

You recently played your first headline shows in North America and performed at Lollapalooza in Chicago. What was it like to stand on those big stages after years of creating songs in your bedroom?

It felt amazing. I get stage fright a lot, but every time I actually get on stage, I remember how fun it is and how natural it feels. I’m excited to keep doing it.

What advice would you give to emerging artists who are trying to carve out space in today’s crowded digital landscape—especially those who want to lead with authenticity?

Just do you. Promote your music, don’t be afraid of what people might think, and always write from the heart.

You’re about to hit the road with Maren Morris for your longest touring stretch yet. What are you most looking forward to on this tour?

I’ve heard so many great things about Maren, and I’m so excited to open for her - let alone travel to all these new cities. I want to learn as much as I can and get more shows under my belt.

How do you define success for yourself right now, and has that definition changed as your career has grown?

I think right now, I’m just striving for happiness. Of course, it’s a dream to be able to support myself and my family, but at the end of the day, I want to be happy and keep growing the family I’ve built through my music.

There has been some wonderful early feedback from your newest release "Running Home"!  Can you tell us about that song, where you wrote it, what it means to you, etc.

“Running Home” is a special one for me because I’ve been trying to find a pop sound that feels authentic to me but still uplifting, and I think this song nails it. I was inspired by summer coming up, and at its core, it’s about reassuring the person you love that you’ll always come back to them no matter what.

After wrapping the Maren Morris tour, what’s next for you—and what do you envision creatively and professionally as you look ahead to 2026?

I’m excited to start writing new music, I already have a few ideas brewing. I want to keep creating, keep touring, and see where that takes me!
