The Art of Amplification: LANY on Elevating Music with Striking Visuals

LANY have quietly cracked the mainstream on their own terms as one of the most ubiquitous, unpredictable, and undeniable pop rock bands of this era. With over 5 billion streams, 1 billion video views, 9 million combined social media following and 1.5 million tickets sold across 37 countries, the platinum-certified Los Angeles group consistently deliver rafter-reaching anthems anchored by airtight songcraft and the outsized personality of enigmatic frontman and songwriter Paul Jason Klein.

“XXL'' is the third single off LANY’s latest album, a beautiful blur. The song generated over 2.5 million streams in the first week and is approaching 10 million total streams to date. “XXL” marks the first National Pop Chart Debut for the multi-platinum pop rock band being worked by Lakeside Entertainment Group.

LANY reflects on the transformative role of the internet in expanding their music's reach and facilitating international tours and share the importance of visual storytelling to elevate their music.

LEG: Congratulations on the tremendous success of your single, "XXL," which is currently on the US POP Chart! Could you share the inspiration that drove the creation of this song? How does it feel to know that this track has resonated with a global audience who are enthusiastically singing along?

i knew i wanted to write a song called “xxl” - jake and i love wearing huge hoodies and i thought saying “i miss you xxl” was a fresh way of saying "i miss you a lot". we’ve never been on the top 40 ever, so it’s an exciting time!

LEG: You just wrapped up another International tour and have sold over 1 Million tickets worldwide since 2016. Of all the cities you've toured is there one in particular that you love going back to or stands out for any particular reason? During your busy touring schedule, do you manage to find some downtime to explore the cities you visit?

some favorites have to be london and mexico city and of course los angeles and new york. we try to get out and walk as many steps as possible to see as much as possible

LEG: Back in 2014, your initial music gained recognition on Soundcloud shortly after the formation of LANY. You currently have over 6 Billion streams across all platforms to date. Considering the significant impact of the internet on the music industry, how do you think it has impacted your musical journey throughout the years?

it’s just made international touring more possible. the power of the internet is amazing - you can get your art in-front of a global audience immediately

LEG: Your music videos are renowned for their striking visual and cinematic qualities. Can you tell us about the creative process of the music video, and what role do your visuals play in conveying your music?

i’ve always been super involved in the creative behind the music videos, but on this album campaign i took it a step further in co-writing and co-directing these videos. good songs are always the number one priority and an excellent visual can amplify and elevate the power of a song

LEG: As established artists who have achieved remarkable success, if you could offer a single piece of advice to aspiring musicians or bands who are just embarking on their careers in the music industry, what would it be?

in the beginning say yes to everything and after a while learn what to say no to
